They were married on June 29th, 1958 in Richmond, Indiana and have lived happily ever after! Joan graduated from Ball State University and Wayne State University and began her career early as an elementary school teacher. She loved to sew and make crafts and was an avid gardener who volunteered her time with many. She LOVED to be involved with all of her grandchildren’s activities and was the best fan at all of their sporting events. Joan is the kind and loving mother of Janel (Joe) Gagnier, Steven & Scott Ray and Susan (Greg) Ulicny. Cherished grandmother of Victor (Sandra) Gagnier, Cody Ray, Payton & Paige Gagnier, Vanessa (Ricky) Ulicny, Chris Ray, Ryan, Elaine & Joanne Ulicny, Lexi Ray and Great Grandmother to Adalyn. Special Sister to Patty Sue Collins (Charlie), Barb, Ken, Nancy and Carol Ray and will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the compassionate and caring staff (especially April) of Paramed and Bayshore for making Joan’s final months comfortable. Visitation will be held at Melady Funeral Home (572 Notre Dame St. Belle River 519-728-1500) on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 3-5pm & 7-9pm.
