<div itemprop="description"><br />BARRETTE, Luc Julien <br />Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on May 15, 2015 at the age of 84 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Devoted and loving husband of 62 years to Lorette (nee St. Pierre). Cherished father of Norbert (Wendy), Ron (Sue), Pauline (Ron) Strong. Special P&eacute;p&eacute; of Neil (Jenelle), Kyle (Julia), Craig (1986), Justin (Anita), Brett (Claudia), Candace (Jonathan), Kurtis, and Katelyn (Tony). Grand P&eacute;p&eacute; of Nathan, Hayden, Alice, and Henri Luc. Predeceased by his parents Zephire and Lea Barrette. Survived by his brother Ferdinand (Violet), the late Gerald (2009) (Monique), and Paul (Rita). Brother-in-law of the late Gerald St. Pierre (2012) (Lucille), the late R&eacute;ne (2011) (Darlene), Annabelle (the late Gene - 1993) Pike. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. He was a proud employee of Union 76 (Dearborn, MI) for over 30 years. He was a membre foundateur of la Club Alouette and an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd degree Council #2775 and 4th degree Assembly #2097. Luc was also a member of the Good Neighbour Club, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and was very active in his community. He enjoyed golfing and bowling and will be missed by his league friends. Visitation will take place at Melady Funeral Home (572 Notre Dame Street, Belle River 519-728-1500) on Wednesday, May 20, from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Parish Prayers at 3:30 p.m. and K of C Prayers at 7:30 p.m. Visiting will continue at the funeral home on Thursday, May 21, from 9-10 a.m. The funeral procession will leave from the funeral home at 10 a.m. to St. Simon &amp; St. Jude Church for the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Simon &amp; St. Jude Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Luc may be made to the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County or to the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre. The family would like to thank Dr. Li Wan Po and staff, CCAC, Hospice, Bayshore Home Health and a heartfelt thank you to our nurses Jacqui and Valerie from V.O.N. who made it possible for Luc to stay at home.
